Salzkammergut

Half-Day Tour with St .Wolfgang

Passing Lake Fuschlsee we first of all go to the charming little village of St. Gilgen, birth place of Mozart’s mother. From there a most picturesque boat trip over Lake Wolfgangsee can be done during the summer season, in winter we follow the road leading along the lake to St. Wolfgang. The visit of Michael Pacher’s winged altar, one of the most important Gothic art works in Central Europe, is a must! Next to the church, the famous “White Horse Inn” gave the idea for the most popular same-named operetta.
We have time for a coffee break before continuing the tour along Lake Wolfgangsee and Lake Mondsee. A short stop in the place of Mondsee where the wedding scene of the movie “Sound of Music” was filmed, is possible before we return to Salzburg via motorway.
